Annex Cafe in Tracy City, TN, offers a straightforward, no-frills take on classic southern home cooking in a down-to-earth cafe setting. This spot feels like a step back into a simpler time, where folks gather over hearty plates of breakfast staples like eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, and coffee. The menu stays consistent, reflecting a confidence in these familiar southern flavors rather than chasing culinary trends.

The atmosphere is cozy and unpretentious, with locals often passing through for a comforting meal and easy conversation. The owner’s welcoming presence adds a personal touch — she runs the place herself and keeps the environment clean and comfortable. It tends to attract those who appreciate traditional recipes the way their grandparents might have made them, complete with the little imperfections that come with real cooking, like some occasional grease and a bit of crisp edge on the food.

Visitors looking to connect with the community or just enjoy a quiet morning meal will find Annex Cafe a steady, reliable choice. The cafe is cash-only, which adds to its old-school character, and it sits next door to an antiques store, though beware that the building can get warm inside during hotter days. Best times to stop by seem to be early in the day for breakfast when the place is lively with locals gathering for their morning routine. This is a spot that, above all, offers a taste of genuine southern comfort food and small-town hospitality.

Real southern home cooking like you can't find anymore. Yes this food is greasy, and maybe even burnt at times. This is the type of food real southern people were raised on by their grandparents and if you were lucky your parents too. This is real take me back to them good' ole days comfort food

The owner is a wonderful lady she is the menu they don't take special requests they have eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy and hash brown with toast and coffee. Very cute place I would recommend it just for the novelty in it alone.

Food was delicious. I think the air is broken in that building bc the antiques store was hot too. Cash only, but such a great value!

My. Peggy is the best that there is. I fell in love with her , her food and her little diner immediately upon my first visit. She is a gem and someone that reminds me of someone that I loved dearly mother in law. God Bless this sweet lady and her business. I can't wait to come back and visit her again soon
